the fall of asgard
…
it’s 50+ years since I first scribbled this ‘ditty’ and a brief re-visit in the 80’s - I thought I’d re-imagine “the fall… as a sort of ‘prog’ number. So with the help of old bandmates Trevor (Bert), Aylmer, Greg and Chris we have produced what I can only describe as ‘Dr Tockys equivalent of the Blue Peter Tracy Island’ - but in sound and vision!

…
I’d been fiddling with the initial visual with no thoughts of ‘what, where or why’. Around the same time I was trawling through some’ emdashman’ audio sketches where I stumbled across a little 10 sec acoustic 'nugget'. The nugget and the video kept bouncing off each other and in the end they had a giraffe!
off with his head!

As a musical theatre ‘pastiche’ this works best as a visual piece. The idea of an ‘alternative’ Alice initially cropped up 50+ years ago (during my angst ridden teenage years)… but only now come to life (as we know it). The video was inspired by an amazing pop-up-book by Robert Sabuda supplemented by various ‘imaginings’ in Photoshop and After Effects.
into your eyes
…this had the working title of ‘smooth’ throughout its production… constantly raising concerns about me turning into an old 'smoothy', heaven forbid!… I blame learning the sax - but hey! I had taken it to ‘somewhere’ then thought I’d run it under old bandmate Aylmer’s magic fretboard and see what came out… ‘one take’ later he'd added the sprinkles!.
none of the above
…Oblique Strategies alas not helping me regards ‘direction’ (this time), I enlisted the help of ‘Johnboy’ for some input. After a short musical ‘meander’, I got to work once more with my trusty plastic scissors and pritt stick. As you can tell… I currently have no plans to go gently into the night.
and you know
...I was only looking to replace my 'mock' guitar on a song that I thought had a fairly obvious direction. Enter Martin Ley (EmDashMan) and his amazing acoustic and the song turned upside down. He laid down some chords and wiggles then I got to work with the plastic scissors and pritt stick... Tah Dah!
time is too short
...As a result of our 'experience' at the fisherman's hut... I attempted to somehow 'exorcise' said experience from my mind. It got to a point where I was sort of stuck, but then thinking - "c'mon...we survived' so let's be positive"... so morphed into something lighter.
